We are so excited about the new direction we’ve taken with the Mark Morris Fund, while still keeping to our original goals and values. Last year, we awarded our first ever $5,000/year scholarship to one deserving senior. Zane is attending The University of Wisconsin – Superior, where he is majoring in Elementary Education and continues to succeed academically. Zane was the captain of his basketball team at Lewiston-Altura, held a part time job, and spent time volunteering with special needs students, an activity that inspired his current major. We are so pleased Zane is able to utilize the Mark Morris scholarship to continue his education, and we know Mark would be proud of this young man’s dedication to education and service toward others.
Looking ahead, we’ll award our second $5,000/year scholarship to an accomplished and deserving senior at Lewiston-Altura this year. We know this shift in direction of the fund’s allocations allows bigger impact among an under-served group of students.
Furthermore, our elementary school students are supported by the Mark Morris Fund, allowing the school to offer enrichment activities such as the Art Club and LEGOs club. Lastly, we continue to support the Courage Retreat and Kindness Retreat – both run by Youth Frontiers and serving the middle school students. To date, these retreats have impacted over 700 students at Lewiston-Altura schools! It’s hard to believe we’ve been doing this for over a decade.
As always, we appreciate your interest, support, and memories of Mark. It is in his honor that we hope to continue encouraging enrichment, curiosity, and service in this next generation.
With gratitude and love,
